Ok, not completely true, the guys that do that are jerks. In my opinion, I simply wouldn't want to lose a friend, I've got too few as is.

Did you just MHO your own answer? Well i’m leaving not point in talking all ill say is your stuck in 2018 guys don’t keep ex’s as friends pfft we dump our ex’s and get brand new girls keep them in the loop tinder etc.
It’s sad, because most of the times, this is the case. I could imagine I’d want to keep an ex as a friend, if it ended on good terms and we have a same sense of humor. I guess some can’t stop thinking with their dicks.
