Can heartbreak cause physical pain?

It sure feels like physical pain. I think it must be the stress depressing the body's systems. Makes you lethargic, more sensitive to touch/physical pain, reduces sleep which is necessary for restoring the body. Under stress people can have allergy attacks, an overactive immune response. Heartbreak can also, at its worst, cause feelings of panic, and if that persists, generalized anxiety. With anxiety your senses become more sensitive and everything that is not calm and quiet can feel uncomfortable. Eventually discomfort can lead to something bigger, something more debilitating.

So take any of these things, are all of these things, and it's not much of a leap to say yes, heartbreak causes physical pain.

I think honestly it is perfectly possible. Heartbreak is mainly a mental issue, since the pain of disrespected sentiments or the end of a relationship lays all in the mind… but often the pains of our mind fall back on our body in form of pains, contractures, diseases… at the point sometimes people develop serious illnesses like cancer or other diseases.
