Can heartbreak make you physically sick?

Feeling sick to my stomach and in a lot of pain. My head hurts and my heart feels funny. I feel so empty and in a lot of pain emotionally and physically.

He changed his Facebook profile pic of us to himself and all I want to do is drink Everclear because that solidifies that it's truly over. I deleted my Facebook because it's just making me feel sicker.

Definitely. I met a 30 year old when I was 36. We wound up living together for almost two years. She was the first girlfriend I ever loved with my heart and soul.

After separating, I had a constant feeling of being kicked in the stomach. I felt breathless and sometimes nauseous. My heart ached. When alone, I would sometimes curl up and bawl.
I have never felt such pain in my life. It was physical.

It took me a year to pull myself together and move on with my life.

Yes, most definitely. In fact, there is a medical term for the physical manifestation from heartbreak, but it is informally called "broken heart syndrome".

Yes...'Heartbreak' can lead to poor mental health and you can most certainly get ill from a poor mental health.

This goes for animals too. Cats, for example, can die as a result of 'Heartbreak'.

Loses someone as a result of 'Death' or 'Breakup' does not matter; Grief is Grief, the stronger the emotions and bond was... the severe the grieving will be. You will go through the same 5 stages of Grief, and they can keep alternating.

I mean if you're not someone who deals with stress well it might. I can understand it giving you a profound emptiness that is unfillable. I had that with one woman I didn't even love. I even remember thinking at the time, "why is this hitting me so hard, because I know it's not love".

Well I don't know your attachment but it might not be love either. It might be just the feeling of rejection from someone you had feelings for. And that can still hurt a long time. Mine took a whole year for me to heal.

I got dumped by somebody and she did it in a very cruel way. I got in my car and drove away. Ten or 11 miles down the road I pulled over to the side of the road and puked.
