My ex dumped me in may , after that we were in no contact , he mailed me on my birthday in July to which I did not reply. I also noticed he had unblocked me from all socials. Now it's his birthday tomorrow.

I wouldn't if I were you, if he's unblocked you that means he's either moving on or he's going to try and get back together with you. I think it would be better for you to just keep ignoring him, because he broke up with you one maybe because he thought he had a shot with someone else or he was just unhappy in the relationship in general and that means you wouldn't want to get back together with him because either he's going to keep being unhappy in the relationship and break up with you again or you are just the person that he is killing time with until he finds somebody that he really likes. For me, personally it's just a rule of thumb to never get back with somebody after you end the relationship.
