A guy I used to like rejected to even be friends last year. I still care but have up in him. His birthday is coming up. Should I wish him?

He used to behave like he likes me too so i confessed to him but he rejected me and asked me to date his best friend instead. This happened last year around the time of him birthday. I wanna wish him on his birthday but i don't wanna look like I'm obsessing over him or being desperate

He told you to date his best friend? Ouch. My ex did that crap to me- that's a nice way of saying, "You're not my type, but here, my friend likes/wants you instead!" or a way to get rid of you... either way, that's a red flag to leave him alone!!!

I know you think a simple, "happy birthday" won't mean much, but he'll think you still have feelings for him (which you do, but still), it comes off as desperate. Unless you just happen to see him in person on his birthday (ie: work, out with friends, etc), don't actively go looking for, or tell him happy birthday.
