Tell me about your best and worst vacation ever?

... and I'll tell you about mine. My best was going to Spain with my daughters. On a bus going from the capital to Bilbao, the Basque region, the mountains were so incredibly high and gorgeous. Food was incredible, and best of all we got to see a niece (their cousin) who loves there on the northern coast. Beautiful area.

My worst--was recently! Meeting two male cousins and their wife and ex wife. The ex-wife made the entire trip unpleasant for everyone, wanting to go to places where she wanted to go, and no one else did; arguing in the car with my cousin (he ex) a majority of the time because she was angry no one wanted to go where she did, etc. etc. The only good time was when she was not able to come along to the amusement park because of her mobility issues. I need a vacation from that one.

A couple years before COVID hit, my SO and I took a cruise to Norway, and then a bus tour of Scotland. The scenery in both was fantastic, and Scottish history was something to behold.

I don't think I've had had a bad vacation... at least hat I remember as being bad. The worst I can remember is a car tour my then wife and kids took through Upstate New York, where we could not find a hotel or motel that had any rooms available. We ended up staying in a cheap motor inn 50 miles from where we wanted to be.

Amy, we had haggis for breakfast and also had haggis pizza. It's actually quite good.

You're not the first to mention it. It sounds awful the way it's made, but supposedly very tasty.

My worse would be spending a few days at Corpus Christi Texas. We had rented a motel and had stayed 2 nights. On the second night we noticed bites on my nephews. So we checked the bed and bed bugs were on the pillow cases. We ended up leaving right then and the staff wanted to move us to another room.

Best, going to Eagle Pass, Texas to visit our relatives. We had stayed at their house since our car had broke down. Ended up enjoying it as they had a big bed and feed us.

Ouch, I'm so sorry about the bedbugs! It's common in some hotels, though. Some people leave hotel reviews and the hotels have cleaned up thanks to them. Glad you had a better time in Eagle Pass.

I never checked the room though after that experience I look at reviews.

Hotels can be very dirty! I use sanitizer for the door knobs, the remote on the TV and also the phone. Think this: Hundreds of people have used the room before you did, and room service only vacuums and does the bathrooms if you're lucky.

I spent three weeks in Europe, that was my favorite. The worst was a few years before when I was in Paris and all of the transportation workers were on strike.
