I don't know how popular the Bachelor is, but TV networks have always tried to put popular shows against other popular shows. Sometimes it ruins an otherwise poplar show that way.

In this case, they know full well they can't compete against Sunday Night Football. They are competing against all the other networks for the stragglers, not directly against football.
