Recently my ex liked my post and followed me nd I followed him back. later he unfollowed me. what could be the reason?

I have an art acc in instagram and its public. I drew a comic about my past relationship cus that story kinda inspired me. later i uploaded in my acc. A few hrs later my ex liked my post and snt me follow req. since i see my followers as my art supporters nd not like my frnds or family or anything, i followed back. later on he unfollowed me. It destroyed my pride. Do guys do that? Why would he do that?
