I don't know for sure but I'm getting a vibe that women think when men joke around we are serious. Like if a guy goes she wants another drink. Or she will slap you if you cross her. I just wanted to say that although there may be an element of truth to this kind of guy talk what we are realy saying is. If I don't say anything there will be an awkward silence and then I won't know what to say. So this is not ment to offend women. 30 percent of this is that its funny cause there is a little bit of truth to it. 70 percent of this is to break the ice and communicate better with you. No offence is intended when we joke around with you.
Ladies you do realize when guys joke around we are just trying to break the ice/

you're right actually! I for one am usually slow when it comes to guys, not realizing that guys sometimes joke around with or tease girls because they "like" them but don't know what else to say to them. I've been teased a lot by boys from elementary to high school and I thought that it was because something was wrong with me but it could, in fact, be because some of those boys "liked" me but thought or knew that they had no chance with me [one reason being that my dad was a high leader of those schools.]
Also this one guy whom I officially met a few weeks ago was teasing me a lot about me looking so young for my age - even saying that I'm really 12 years old. Turns out that he actually really "likes" me - but some ways that he made it obvious that he's into me was by initiating us making out that night, is willing to have long phone conversations with me usually getting to know each other, and even picked me up from my house [which is almost 30 miles away from him] to "hang out" at his house [which consisted of a lot of making out] then brought me safely home.
Point is sometimes I and probably other girls think that guys tease or joke around certain girls because those guys are jerks or they really think that there's something wrong with those girls. But really it's usually because those guys are into those certain girls, though I wish that the guys would not make it so offensive. I still get bothered a little when that guy says I'm really 12 years old when I tell him that I'm almost 21 [and I actually remind him that if I'm 12 then he's a pedophile, which he doesn't find funny], but, like you wrote, it's probably sometimes to try to "break the ice."
Well...SOME guys can joke and make it seem like they're serious! Sometimes I don't even know when a guy is really joking or not! Sometimes I get offended...not because I think that you guys are not joking, but more so because I feel like you guys are just laughing at MY expense.
Ugh...I have a guy friend that jokes with me all the time, and says these little short, sarcastic comments that make me feel so dumb. And I'm there thinking: "why can't you just talk to me normally?" :-/
I don't know. Guys have never jokes around with me.
