My ex asked me to block them?

I’m confused on why my ex ask me to block them. Why can’t they just block me and get it over with?

My ex was like that. I literally told him “this is the least thing u can do for this relationship” because when we were dating all he did was nothing. I planned every single date, everything. He never put thought into stuff so I was like “I won’t do this for you too, if u want to block me, be a man and do it urself”

No idea your situation - but for me..

I ended things with my ex because he was emotionally suffocating. When you break up for this reason basically you just want the person to leave you alone and back off because their emotions are just too much for you to cope.
Them blocking you would be a sign that they finally GET IT - like finally please back off. Please block me, delete me, pretend we never met - just whatever it takes for you to focus your attention on someone else... anyone else BUT ME - just leave me alone. It is a psychological desire for an overwhelming ex to just block you - as it feels better.

No idea your situation - but for me I asked many times for my ex to block me for this reason.
