Why do married women cheat?

So I know its not always and only married woman who cheat on there spouses but its just been a trend I have noticed in my life.

my mom cheated on my dad and now there separated. my god parents are not together anymore because the wife was unfaithful. and even a few of my friends have told me there parents or some married couples they know are divorced now because of cheating.

why is this so common? I mean if your single or in a open relationship have at it, but if your in a monogamous relationship why cheat on your partner?

now of course its not only woman who cheat. men have traditionally been the ones who were unfaithful. I'm just saying it seems like a current trend going on for married woman to be promiscuous. is this kind of a revenge thing for all woman who were treated badly or watched there father not be good to there mother? any views or opinions anyone will share?

The real question is, why does anyone cheat? We can say it's because they weren't appreciated, the didn't feel attractive enough and so on. To me, these aren't reasons, these are excuses. I think the real reason anyone cheats is because they were put into a situation where they were tempted and the human nature of always wanting the next best thing took over and they gave in.

I have felt extremely unappreciated in many relationships, but I never resorted to cheating, mainly because I never allowed myself into situations where I would be doing something to hurt someone else for my own selfish gain (although you gain nothing from being unfaithful). So not being appreciated isn't a valid excuse to me.

So to answer your question, I think cheating is more common, or at least heard about these days because it is so easy. Women are out and about more, there are new temptations and things like Facebook and other social media make the damage more heard of.

yea I can see your point for sure its a good breakdown in general. I wasn't really thinking about the temptation that happens. I was mostly thinking of how cheating is usually just going to hurt your partner

People aren't connected to their spouses very much anymore. They work, play on electronics, do chores, watch tv, go to bed. People need to talk and touch to be connected to each other -- that's how we're wired!

I think both sexes cheat pretty equally. If a woman cheats for revenge from her childhood, the guy had some serious red flags before marriage, because that is pretty f***ed up. I think the main reason that cheating has caught up to men is simply because women are out of the house more than they used to be. They are meeting more people and not trapped at home while their husband screwed the secretary.

thats gotta be the best answer I heard so far. people don't really communicate anymore. just play games and Facebook. either way that's a really valid point about women being out of the house and meeting more people. I guess I just have an old fashioned sense of relationships.

I don't think trapping women at home makes the relationship any better. Our "digital age" just happens to correspond with that. Many marriages were unhappy before, but they stayed together despite cheating, abuse, etc.

I honestly think marriage in this country has fallen to the dogs. Sure, it seems like a great thing, but most people treat it as though it's just a regular relationship. I myself don't ever want to get married, but I can completely respect the sanctity of it. I've never cheated either. Sure, I've been tempted, but if I wanted to step out on my boyfriend, I would just break up with him. I don't understand cheating. If you aren't happy, break up. Don't be selfish and keep stringing someone along that you clearly don't care for, otherwise, you wouldn't be stepping out on them. It annoys me.

I notice a lot of men and women who cheat in marriage or relationship and all I have to say is, Get your sexual desires out of your system before you get married or settle down!

If people had all the sexual experiences they wanted before hand I think theyd be less likely to cheat because they will not wonder and know what they want and expect.

And some just fall in love. That's less common but hey, it happens.

when women cheat, it is usually either because we are not being fulfilled by our partner any more...

or revenge.

So maybe the women in your life are cheating so much, cause the men in your life suck...

well If your not being fulfilled by your partner than you should express that to them or leave don't you think?. thanks for your comment but I don't take kindly to someone saying my dad sucks when he has been an honest hard working guy his whole life who took care of his family pretty well. your opinion is your opinion and your entitled to it but don't judge someone you don't even know

Why does anyone cheat? Obviously there are core, emotional problems within that person that compels them to do so.

I agree with a lot of the other answerers: the sanctity of marriage has gone to hell. I'm not religious, but I believe in upholding a commitment.

Everyone seems to cheat these days. It has become the norm of relationships I believe. Its not just married women it is a large percentage of society I think.

They weren't feeling appreciated or feminine any more. Having to beg for sex, or never getting compliments or just leaving her feeling lonely can make her cheat.

well yea being under appreciated does not feel good at all. I don't know I guess I just have a different opinion on relationships than most do. is that common that women in relationships have to beg for sex? their husbands are not interested anymore?

It can be, yes. Men can be cruel. They can start picking on your looks, your weight, everything and make you feel completely inadequate. I've seen it more than I've wanted to.
