If a woman once beg and never chase the man (like talking, meeting them) anymore after they broke up. How long a man regret a breaking up?

I know for some people moving on takes time but after a certain couple of years, shouldn’t you at least make an attempt to actually let go? Especially if your ex is already happily in a new relationship and have been for years. I don’t see the point of wasting years of your life waiting for someone that most likely will never return. I especially don’t see the point of purposefully trying to sabotage your ex’s relationship in an attempt to win them back over.

I’ve seen this happen to a couple of my friends, they don’t realize that they’re wasting years of their youth on some guy who has moved on with their lives. I just don’t understand why… sometimes I just wanna shake them and go like “do you realize you’re getting old? Get over it!!” lol

My relationship with my ex lasted 4 years, and he broke up with me almost a year ago. We were serious; he bought a ring, which was a whole thing. While I was with him, though, his mom kept influencing him to end things with me since my family wasn't accepting of the relationship. However, he ended the relationship on his own accord because he was "falling out of love, not compatible anymore, etc."

After the breakup, his mom was my primary support system since my family didn't support us. She told me that she believes he'll reconcile with me in a couple of years since he still has a lot of maturing to do, and he will contact me when it's time. But she told me to move on in the meantime and how she met her now-husband after her serious relationship ended. After a couple of months, I stopped contacting her and his family because it was taking a toll on my mental health since she kept referring to me as "daughter-in-law" when her son moved 12 hours away to avoid reminders of our relationship and the possibility of seeing me.

However, his mom and grandmother still text me occasionally. She texted me this past Christmas, asking if I was single and wishing me a happy Easter. His grandmother texted me last week to see how I was doing since she thought of me. I am moving on with another man now. My family doesn't support this relationship, but he doesn't mind, will fight their dissatisfaction, and will marry me soon. It's hard now, though, because I can't help but wonder if my ex's family is trying to make him reconsider the breakup and reconcile with me, especially since they still message me. I don't want to block them because it feels rude, but it's also making me question my new relationship. Help?

I was in a 4-year relationship with my ex before he ended things about a year ago. I didn't block him on social media but removed him (since my pages are private) and his family, even though he wanted to be connected on Instagram at least. It took a toll on my mental health to see that he can still view my pages, so that's why I removed him. I didn't block his phone number either; I just deleted it because he's not the type to message me unnecessarily unless he's serious about getting back together. Recently, though, he viewed my LinkedIn profile even after I removed him as a connection a while ago. I'm assuming he was just curious, but is there a possibility that he is trying to reconcile with me? His family texts me occasionally to "check in" and see how I'm doing.

I personally don’t know what’s worst. On one hand being blocked out of nowhere shows that they don’t want anything to do with you anymore (which hurts) but at least they’re clear about their intentions. With being left on seen or just ghosted tho… it hits different. It’s as if they don’t even care enough to block you but they’re still leaving the door to communication open even though it’s only one way. They’re leaving you with a glimmer of hope when they actually have zero intention of ever connecting with you ever again.

Can you just suddenly forget about them by busying yourself with enough other activities, or does it usually take falling in love with someone else that makes you forget about them?
