Why do women defend their loser boyfriends and husbands?

Even though they know that they aren't good husband or boyfriends. My sister talks great about her husband yet he's not a good husband. He's an alcoholic and a cheater. When she talks or comments about him I just stay quiet. He's an okay dad as I know he loves his daughters but still is not a good example for them. I have noticed this trend in other women defending their boyfriends or husbands from other women speaking out about how much of a cheater and liar heir partners are. To the death they defend them. The man doesn't have to say or do anything because the wife or gf is always at their defense.

"Even though they know that they aren't good husband or boyfriends." Clearly, they're better than any available alternatives, or otherwise those women would go for those alternatives, wouldn't they? Maybe those women aren't good deals themselves. Maybe those men have other, good qualities that you don't see: maybe they're strong and manly; maybe they're great in bed. Who knows?

It's funny, because I'm surrounded by women with decent henpecked husbands who bitch constantly that they don't earn enough or do 100% of chores and also that they're at work too long.
