Do pretty girls get treated better or worse in the real world?

Question

I notice on social media that guys and girls are always complimenting the hottest women and giving them so much positive attention.

However, I personally know several hot girls in the real world who don't get much attention, rarely get approached, and in fact have been called "ugly" by other people, including guys who tell them that they are not so pretty.

Has anyone observed the same phenomenon?

I would say the cons outweigh the pros in my case. I'm considered very attractive by everyone and the pros are that I get a lot of attention from guys, most of the times it's unwanted and I get a bit uncomfortable. I'm not a flirty or attention seeking girl, I'm a one-man woman and I just like getting attention from the guy I like. Rest don't matter to me honestly.

The problem is is that even though I do get a lot of attention, most guys are too intimidated to approach me and just keep staring at me. I'm extremely shy so the chances of me approaching them are also very slim. So I guess that most guys will think that I'm a stuck up bitch because of my negative body language (which is nothing but shyness). It gets annoying after some time.

Guys are also extra polite to me, are ready to do me favours and are eager to become my friends (of course their ultimate aim is something else). I get compliments from everyone and well that's about it.

The biggest con is is that you get pretty lonely. Some of my closest friends (even my best friend) started getting jealous of me and I was really hurt by that so I cut them off from my life. Basically I've learnt that pretty girls should be friends with pretty girls otherwise you're in for a lot of bullying and envy/jealousy.

There have been girls in my class who I was nothing but nice to but they still kept on being bitchy and mean to me for no reason. It really affected me in a bad way. I mean what did I do to deserve it?

Both depending on what we're talking about.

Overall attractive people are generally treated better by society as a whole. But I do know plenty of attractive females whom are hated by other girls and treated badly by them simply because they're attractive and they feel threatened by that and jealous.

There's also the fact that attractive people (male and female) are much more likely to get raped/sexually assaulted than an unattractive person (not saying they don't get raped too, they do).

The girls that you're taking about that don't get approached are most likely giving off the unapprochable vibe (not smiling/arms crossed kind of body language etc.)

Worse actually... Because if you turn a guy down because you have morals, they go nuts. You get hit on by creepy people and the things they say make you squirm and feel uncomfortable. Online, girls have some sort of control on how people react to their photos and status: blocking, changing who can see it, and removing comments. And, also, some guys get too intimidated to talk to pretty girls so they dont. Girls might even judge you for your looks and not hang out with you too. And no one takes you seriously. It's an uphill battle because everyone thinks you get better treatment but you don't.

If you're an "attractive" woman in today's society, there are certain perks like getting drinks for free, and getting a certain amount of attention.

However, there are lots of downsides, too; such as not being sure as to whether or not someone cares about you as a person, or if they just think you're hot. Other girls getting jealous, catty and cruel because they feel insecure around you (they instantly see you as competition, whether you warrant it or not), etc.

Bit of a double-edged knife, really.

It's true that attractive people tend to get more attention and better treatment from others. But ultimately it still depends on their personality and the way they carry themselves. I've seen some pretty girls/handsome dudes who don't get noticed because they are shy/quiet. I've also seen people who are average looking/unattractive that are popular and treated nicely because they are nice people. And then there are jerks who hate and bully good-looking people because they are jealous and insecure.

The girls you probably consider hot girls, are probably not hot or pretty to the average guy. From my experience, most girls do not perceive physical beauty towards other girls the same way as the typical guy,

The root of the problem here is that for some reason that remains a mystery to me, women seem to think they know better than men do what is attractive to men. I'm constantly amused by how often women try to tell me which women are attractive and which aren't. They often get it totally wrong.

Attractive people do tend to get more attention, but that may be negative attention (like cat calls or other harassment) or positive attention (such as more likes on their Facebook pictures).
