My boyfriend is mad about my recent belly button piercing?

So I got my belly button repierced after some years and my boyfriend is mad about it. He disapproves of and it and always has had thing against belly button piercings and tattoos. When we first got together I already had two tattoos and got another when we were dating early on. I also got my belly button pierced early in in the relationship too by it rejected and I haven’t gotten it done up until recent and that was like 4-5 years ago. He keeps saying I should’ve told him about it before hand but I knew how he would react. It’s annoying he keeps saying there is no benefit to it and it’s a waste of money but I keep telling him it’s not that deep.

I know many of you are gonna say screw him it’s my body and I can do whatever I want. I do agree with having my own choices in my own body. He says my body isn’t just my body and since we are in a committed relationship I shouldn’t have done it because of how strongly he feels about it. But the thing is I really wanted it.

Eh when you’re in a relationship sure it’s still your body to do what you want with, but your partner is allowed to have an opinion it and is perfectly within his rights to hate your choices. What you choose to do may alter his attraction to you; and you’ve chosen to do it anyway even knowing he wouldn’t like it.
If my husband stopped shaving, started wearing scummy clothing and went and got gauges in his ears damn straight my attraction for him will lower - because part of my love is based on how much I enjoy looking at him and the feelings I get when I do.
If he chose to go behind my back and do something like that on top of it - it shows a huge lack of respect for me and our relationship. Who wants to be with someone like that?

What you do to your body affects him, being as you are in a relationship. He has the right to be mad, just as you have the right to get a piercing. Personally, I don't like piercings. I wouldn't get mad, but it would make my SO look less attractive to me.

It is your body, your choice. I can understand him being unhappy about it, I don't like them much either, but I certainly wouldn't go to the level of being mad. If I cared about the other person, I would probably let it go with time.
