I'm latina and I'm obsessed with men with blonde hair and blue eyes. Do I sound like a self hating latina?

I have a thing being obsessed with white guys with blonde hair and blue eyes , its getting to be too much where I'm unable to sleep at night. Chris Martin from Coldplay is definitely what my ideal blonde/blue eyed type is , same for the guys from the show Vikings. I don't know the reason behind being obsessed but all I know both my paternal / maternal grandfathers had blonde hair and have colored eyes , same for my father being a blonde. My first relationship was with a white guy. I realized white men always found me attractive than my own kind. I really dont find dark features in men physically or romantically attracted , its a reason why I've been single because I will never settle for less than what I truly deserve , I will fight till I get what I want. I guess you can say im attracted to what im surrounded by. That's how it is with me. I'm extremely obsessed as well with Scandinavian and British culture. My dream is to marry a white American guy that has blonde hair and blue eyes with Scandinavian or British ancestry. I really want my children to have blonde hair and colored eyes. I believe I could possibly carry those traits as my family has colored eyes and blonde hair plus my father and his father and my mothers father were all blondes which I take pride. I dont deny being latina but I do feel ashamed being around my kind , most of them act pretty ghetto and uneducated. Being around white people makes me feel more accepted and superior , there's less drama around them too.

But if this is something that is bothering you, you probably should talk to people who you think you identify with.

But again, I don't see why you do not identify as being "White" in addition. You are at least half "White", right?

Well I took a dna ancestry test a while back, im mostly European and Native American. I guess you can say im white after all latino isn't even a race we all come in different colors , I look mainly Mediterranean with a layer tint of native American which makes what a average latina looks like.

I don't know if its a phase , recently been attracted to white guys because they have appreciated me more than my own kind. Also I learn to appreciate the European features in my family.

Well, I only offered it up as a suggestion if you are in your early 20s you could be in for a wild ride in terms of what you are attracted to. I am 45 years old by the way and I have went through periods of being attracted to "Black" women really dark skinned, really light skinned "Black" women, big women, skinny women, "White" women, Latinas, Indian women, Asian women. . . etc. I have dated the rainbow.

As for Latinos not being a race, I can't get into that. I don't believe in race and I know too many Latinos who claim that many Latinos have identity issues.

That being said, when it comes to identity, I don't understand what you mean by your own kind. Again, you are half "White" at least. . . why aren't "White" men your own kind?

I'm am mestiza someone who is European and Native American which what most latinos are but im mostly european. I won't go detail why I go for white men as what I could say could sound racist or Eurocentric in a way which I dont want to offend anyone . Most of us Latinos struggle with identity issues and self hate because we been colonized poorly so we all fight who is more white or brown or who is beautiful based on psychical appearance . Everyone has a racial preference , I dont think its wrong if your attracted to what your surrounded by or what your taste is , you do you , if you like women of a different ethnicity good for you . I dont deny being latina or deny I have Native American ancestry , my great great grandmother was full native so i can't deny that brown side of me.

I can't speak to Latinos with identity issues. I am not a Latino. I am not apart of the culture. That being said, I am not "White" so of course, I am well-aware of self-hatred, as most of those who are not "White" are prone to experience in America. The only culture that really considers itself without flaw is "White" American culture. That's why there are no "White" men or "White" women here at GaG, claiming how they are only attracted to "Blacks" or Latinos.

But I am saying in addition to having that "brown" in your heritage, you do have "Whiteness" as well.
