A hickey or something else?

When I hanged out with this guy I’m really into I saw something on his neck that looked exactly like this on the picture. I asked him and he said he fell and something hit him, but I didn’t believe it. He said “if I had a hickey would I really be hanging out with you today?” I just stayed quiet. It had small red dots so can someone tell me what it could be?

it's a hickey, while bruising can cause things to look like that, what ever it was would have to damage more than the skin under tissue and surrounding area. also it's usually the shape of whatever hit him.

a hickey is bruising of the skin (a particular circular spot) as blood is sucked to the skin and damages the layer. which is why it has little dots.
