I don't date period, but I see your point, and oral hygiene is very important to me, and I'd expect the same standards from someone else.
Here is something else to consider. Even if a person goes to the Dentist, has a hygienist clean their teeth, floss, tongue scrape, mouth wash, and other stuff, their oral hygiene can still be terrible because of the tonsil area.
Every time a person eats, food particles collect inside of the tonsil crypts (when they swallow food) and if they remain there, they generate bacteria, begin to rot and generate volatile sulfur compounds every 16 hours or so, and putrefy until they turn into little smelly balls of pure hardened bacteria. These tonsil stones can cause bad breath regardless of mouthwash or a seemingly perfect oral hygiene regime.
The last time I dated a girl, she said my obsession with oral hygiene made her paranoid about hers and she made more effort with it...

It would have been nice if you didn't put that photo. Your teeth can get stained even though you brush regularly. Older people don't have naturally pearl white teeth without having them whitened at the dentist.
This statement is not even answering my question. You do not need to analyse an image I had posted. It is not about ‘’yellow teeth’’ I clearly stated ‘bad oral hygiene’ within the Q.
I wouldn't date someone who doesn't take care of their teeth willingly. This means that they don't brush daily or have bad teeth and they can afford fixing them, but they just don't care
Depends. There's a lot of people that don't realize that teeth have a natural yellow tinge to them, so if they aren't perfectly white, it doesn't mean they have bad oral hygiene! My teeth for example are badly stained and far from white, but I go to the dentist regularly and they tell me my oral health is excellent, they just aren't white. And because of past events, they tell me there's no point to whitening them (waste of time and money because it won't look right or good - too long to explain why).
However, if it's more than that, missing teeth etc and bad breath, no they need to do something. I met a woman recently for a date, and no lie, as soon as she got in my car, I could smell her breath! And it was so bad I thought I might be sick! I don't know what the deal was with it, but I knew right away that was the end of that! lol

my teeth are a bit whiter than the teeth on the left. Why? because my doctor prescribed tetracycline right in that time I was changing from my milk to my permanent denture. The tetracycline residue (as with any medicine) stayed in the system for a while, enough for it to affect the colour of my teeth. So colour itself shouldn't be a mark of health.
Yes white is attractive, but from what I informed myself whitening my tetracycline stained teeth is currently out of reach. I could cover them in veneers, but I want to open my bottle with my teeth and not eat mashed steak to protect the veneers from falling off.
Tetracycline shouldn't have affected the colour of your teeth if you already were losing your milk teeth and getting your permanent teeth in. Tetracycline causes a band of yellow, not the entire teeth yellow. The permanent teeth (the ones that you see, not the ones under your gums) start to develop as soon as you are born. So by the time the baby teeth develop, they are already formed and medications like tetracycline don't affect it
Just because your teeth aren't white (because most people's aren't without teeth whitening products), doesn't mean you have bad oral hygiene. Also, you can't scrape plaque off with the tongue... tongues aren't even nearly hard enough to do so. So long as they brushed their teeth at least 2x a day and scraped their tongue, and they have no rotting teeth, then I'm okay I suppose.

You can scrap off soft-tartar (the fresh layer of bacteria) with your tongue. Imagine not brushing your teeth for a good few days, the texture of the teeth feel weird. That is the fresh bacteria building up—leave that overtime and it becomes hard plaque.
Well like you said, yellow teeth doesn't always equate to bad oral hygiene. Unless you get close enough to see the plaque there, I don't think you could tell. That's how I view it. Yes it's gross, but I know no one is perfect.
But, it's not normal to focus on one's teeth when speaking to them. There should be eye to eye contact, but I get where you're coming from. I get that we are very different. And that is okay.

That's a generalisation. I'm not generalising. I'm saying that people are supposed to have a conversation eye to eye in a formal setting. Even in a one on one with it being friendly, looking someone in the eye when you speak to them is simply respectful. I speak for no one except myself. It would depend on why to me. Like are they dirty or is it because of something actually happened and made it that way. Before someone says nothing can make it your oral hygiene bad that is wrong there are countless of things for an example a female that gave birth and breastfed can have horrible teeth due to the fact of the baby sucking the calcium out of your body and another can be due to the dentist just wanting your insurance money. So to me it all depends on the situation
I have a very strong sense of smell. I have seen both men and women who I would have said they dressed to the nines and appeared wealthy. The second I approach these people I smell nothing but what I call tooth rot. Its the smell of decaying animal flesh decomposing between their teeth. You can brush all day long but if you don't floss you will have bad breath. It truly is a turn off.
I never thought I would but I grew up and realised looks aren't everything my partners teeth aren't that pretty and he can't brush his teeth twice a day like everyone else because they hurt too much. He has decided to wait till we get the house to do his dental work.

I didn't know how bad his oral hygiene was til we moved in together. I talked to him about it and he got better but reverted back to it eventually along with other forms of bad hygiene so I had to break up with him.
Discoloured, broken/chipped, filled... not a problem. Unbrushed and unflossed, nope! What they've done in the past is fine but what they do now is important.

I rinse my teeth everyday with hydrogen peroxide for 2 minutes straight out of the bottle by swishing it. My dentist told me that's the best product on the market It's much better than the Listerine rinse h e says and that's what I do and I have no problems with my teeth and they're nice and clean

@Iron_Man Peroxyl is a hydrogen peroxide based mouthwash. Using mouthwash straight after brushing makes the fluoride in the toothpaste virtually useless.
I agree with opinion owner. My teeth are exactly the same color as the ones in the left picture. No matter how much I brush, it will never be like the right picture.
@Q-tipBoy that's because the one on the right are bleached and fake as hell. You prolly just have staining from coffee and tea which is normal, and if you ever go to the dentist just tell them you'd like a cleaning to get rid of the stains and you'll be surprised by how much your teeth will lighten up. Don't use the bleach, it weakens your teeth.
No problemo 🤗 I have slightly yellower teeth lately too (because of all the coffee I've been drinking lol) but I used to have slightly whiter teeth (I would floss and drink cranberry juice, apparently is really helps to remove tar and stains)
But I used to get really self-conscious because people at school used to use bleach and stuff and make their teeth extremely white and "appealing" but I stuck to the natural root, which usually meant that my teeth still had a yellow tint. My dentist said that a yellow tint actually means your teeth are healthier because thats the colour when your teeth are alive and well. But the bleach kills the cells in your teeth causing them to be white. (I try to remember that so I don't care what other girls do lol)
Yeah xD it really messes with your head ahah But nah, don't give in. The dentist shines a light sometimes through the teeth, and they can tell if you have bleached or not. They told me that I take really good care of my teeth and that people that bleach, sometimes if they put a finger behind their teeth they can see it in the front. That's how transparent it becomes. That's not good 😅
No one is saying you don't, but the colour of your teeth are affected by caffienated drinks.
People can take great care of their teeth and it has nothing to do with the colour of them. Good toothpaste isn't a criteria based on tooth whitening, it's based on how well it prevents cavities.
It's like saying "my hair looks really healthy" I don't care what it looks like, the question is... is it actually healthy?
Anyway, I get lots of compliments on my teeth too, so it's not like the whiter they are the more appealing they are. If there's one thing I noticed, guys don't like things that look fake, and like natural appearances. Girls tend to be the ones that go over the top to achieve standards that aren't practical

Also, there are ‘good’ toothpastes that whiten teeth which are widely available. Such as activated charcoal toothpaste.
There’s no need for the simplification.
Also, to be realistic the whiter they are they do tend to get more attention. However they also have to be symmetrical to be completely noticed.
Also I do not know what you consider as ‘fake’, I think that is a little bit biased and unneeded as you can whiten your teeth naturally using banana peels, charcoal and etc.
I agree that anyone in their right mind knows that white teeth does not equal a good set of teeth, but you yourself stated "I take good care of my teeth and I got complimented for it" but the only thing you said that showed you took good care of them is using a really good toothpaste that whitens your teeth. Activated charcoal toothpaste is not a "good" toothpaste, it's a commercialized product that people are going crazy over for the very fact that it whitens your teeth and removes stains. But it is actually abrasive and can cause damage to your teeth.
I don't understand what simplification you are referring to. All I said is that toothpaste is necessary for fluoride application which helps to prevent cavities. So for it to be "really good" means that it should do its job in that case, the whitening is a bonus feature made to increase purchase value since that's what people want, but it's doesn't mean it's a good toothpaste.
There's natural teeth whitener, and then there's the fake white I see in the pic. That's all (and the other comments by people on here are in favour)
Just because something receives attention doesn't mean it's better, some people stare because it is a bit off and looks odd. Especially when a female is tanned and whitens her teeth, I don't know why people think that's a good idea. Observing that white teeth looks fake is not being biased, fake looks fake: it's an observation. Being biased is when I have preconceived notions of something that's not backed up by proof or science.

People can have very white teeth and yet have relatively poor oral hygiene, and people who have fantastic oral hygiene might not have brilliant, gleaming white teeth.
Some people would find that ‘rude’, I don’t think so. It’s your duty to take care of your oral hygiene, we shouldn’t really ask you to brush your teeth lol...
