Why do I suddenly want a girlfriend?

I have no idea why, but today at school I was thinking about something related to girls, I can't even remember at this point, and then it just all hit me at once. For some reason all I could think about for the rest of the day was girls. I'm so confused, I've never been in a real relationship before and now I really want a girlfriend and I can't even justify it to myself, it doesn't make sense at all. Is this normal? Will girls feel this way too? Is 8th grade too young?

You are at an age where you are beginning to transition into high school and your body is going through puberty. You’re most likely having a desire to share things with someone, and it is truthfully just a natural thing. It is natural to desire someone’s presence, especially on a personal level, such as an intimate, private relationship. If you’re thinking of one certain girl, ask yourself what qualities make her stand out from the others. If you are thinking of girls in general, don’t settle for a relationship right off the bat, because this will lead to pain and agony on both ends. If you truly want a girlfriend, you will be thinking of one girl. If you are just feeling the desire to be with a girl, don’t rush into anything.

Also, I have a friend who has been with her boyfriend since 8th grade. They are now sophomores in college. I feel that it’s really about maturity and not your age. You’re about 13/14 probably, and that’s not too young to start dating, but in most cases it won’t last, but there are some where it will. It just depends on who you are as a person and who the girl is. :)
