Why are there such inconsistent dating site results?

I have no problem meeting more than enough women I can possibly meet (at least before the pandemic) via Hinge, OkCupid, Match.

However, stuff like Tinder and Bumble was a horrid waste of time. I feel like I don't play well on apps that are swipe heavy, substance light maybe. I've also seen guys say that people consider them good looking yet they have no luck meeting women even with paid Match subscriptions.

Too many variables. For example, I think geographic location might play a part in this. Also, just comparing photos to photos isn't enough for me. I take the time to actually read profiles. If the guy is attractive but posted literally nothing on his profile, I get the impression that he's not serious about meeting someone since he can't even put 5 minutes of effort into his profile biography. Some people write bios but come across as cocky, too serious, rude, etc.

Also, this is probably just personal preference, but as a woman on online dating apps, I personally did not care for Match. It felt too antiquated for me. I was much happier with OK Cupid.

I don't know I had a decent number of women to meet from POF and Meetme back in the day. OkCupid would get a lot of women to talk to me but never would agree to meet. I haven't needed the dating sites since Tinder and Bumble came out but I doubt I would have had much luck with that format.
