Would meeting girls at anime conventions be a great way to meet girls I like and potentially date them and what other options could I take?

I'm a 26 year old guy that loves anime and games and I'd like to date girls who company I enjoy. Right now this isn't practical as COVID is still a thing so once that clears up I'd like to have an action plan. Before someone is like "work on yourself first weeb" I'm currently trying to get my diploma in software engineering and I work a part time job. Anyways once COVID is over I could head to the anime convention and make some more buddies and possibly get a date there or later on. The only downside to this idea I see is that the convention here only happens once a year for the most part so I'd like to have some more ideas here. I honestly don't think I'll meet girls who want to date me with similar interests in my day to day life if I keep going about the passive route and doing nothing.

I think a lot of those girls bring their boyfriends to conventions. So probably not your best bet but definitely try it your game. Otherwise try online... or with gaming. Twitch. Those things usually go hand in hand.

Go to places and join groups where you will be with like minded people. You could also create an online dating profile and list your interests there
