Personally for me I prefer something in between the two images.
But if I had to choose I'd got for 'dad bod' image. I've dated guys who are completely toned, with a full six pack before- aesthetically, not my preference- but also I don't particularly enjoy the lifestyle those guys had.
This may not be the same for every guy in that shape - but was the case for the ones I've dated.
Their whole life stemmed around the gym. Don't get me wrong, working out is good... but we had to plan EVERYTHING around it. We couldn't do certain things at certain times, lest it interrupt their schedule. I was tired of playing second fiddle to protein shakes and dumbells.
They're not more attractive. But the person behind the less fit body feels less intimidating to some. They also seem less rigid, less vain, more open to cutting loose. (These may not be true. Some people work hard, play hard. But these are some of the thoughts that will enter a girl's mind.)
I sometimes think the "dad" part is key. Dad means he raises children, probably is a reasonably responsible husband, father, careerman, a valued member of his community. If just being a fatass sufficed, probably the term would be called "beer belly bods", not "dad bods".
And you look at people with six-pack abs and ab veins, and many times they don't accomplish much... sometimes they do, but many times, all around us, they don't accomplish much. They might be a bouncer at a night club, or selling supplements at a fitness store, or a personal trainer... But the presidents of the US tend to have "dad" bods. The executives at companies tend to have those.
Yes, you're right, DA. Dad denotes some amount of responsibleness, maturity. He's potentiably solid, and capable in some areas of his life. Maybe he is busy and has other priorities that take his time. He's not focusing on his external to draw chics in. He has a life that doesn't centre around attracting others. That makes him easier to be with, if you do get with him, because you won't be swatting away flies, all around him. (I imagine, ha ha. You know how I like to ponder and theorize on these things.)
@AmandaYVR Maturity seems key. I sometimes wonder about the "MILF" thing. Well, guys are more perverted so maybe they just like wrinkles and bigger boobs.
I'm not going to go there, analyzing that one. The "mother" part kind of disturbs me. But maybe it's not entirely unlike the male type. Seems more age-related, simply, though, doesn't it?
I can tell you one thing - some guys like, or are fine with older women, not necessarily because of the body, but what they do get is often...
Someone who's more self-assured and doesn't play games. She knows what she wants, likes, and appreciates. She's more of an active, skilled lover. She's not a princess. She has more knowledge and wisdom about life and the world in general. Stuff like that.
@AmandaYVR I could see that but I tend to encounter the "MILF" term more in pornography, while "Dad bod" seems more prevalent with successful and responsible guys who have sloppy physiques. I'm thinking if there was as much depth to the MILF thing as "dad bod", the guys would be more interested in, say, great actresses instead of a porno star who just throws off her clothes and starts going to town on a young guy.
First time I ever heard the term was many years ago, in the context of a 'hot mom' who some youngish guy thought about sexually. (Subtext being: it's surprising how hot she is, considering her age, motherhood, lifestyle, etc.)
Some things start in porn; some things trickle down and find their way into porn after saturation elsewhere and porn sites just want to bank on it. But not everything is primarily just about porn.
@AmandaYVR I imagine there are very nuanced and complex ways of using "MILF" for sure. But I'm thinking there's more depth to the dad bod thing than MILF just very generally speaking. It seems a bit more sophisticated. Well, I think the MILF thing started more with a shallow focus and worked its way to a deeper one among few. And I'm thinking "dad bod" started from the opposite end.
lol, maybe so.
'dad bod' is often connected to a guy who's middle-aged, sort of, and any age of woman/girl might like him. (Cause of his responsibleness, or parenting skills/warmth, etc.)
But a MILF, although roughly the same age, is about a specifically younger guy making the comment.
Yeah, the dad bod guy is appealing not exactly because of his body but what he represents. The MILF... isn't she kind of hot, despite her age, not being in her prime youthful 20s? Is part of her appeal the fact that she is a mom (and nurturing? or has more skills/knowledge in bed? or is pent up and looking for something out of the routine?), or is it just surprising that she looks pretty good, despite her age?
Ah well, whatever, I guess.
@AmandaYVR Perhaps some crushes in our youths going both ways, like the teacher/professor. I figure most people who got that fantasy didn't get far enough with it to get disappointed.
Depends on who you ask
The answer isn't clear cut lmao

This is very shallow. All I care about is that we both take good care of our bodies, support any physical goals, and love the soul inside that body. Simple simple simple. 🤦🏻♂️
Nope, just body itself isn't more attractivs than fit body.
No, only time it’s sort of okay to have a dad bod is if you’re an older dad. I don’t wanna feel his chub on me during missionary and when we’re cuddling and shit.
Nope! Fitness is attractive.
