'Is being physically attractive worth it, if you fear being touched might ''ruin'' your body?

Question

Naturally this doesn't apply to random strangers, but to someone whom you might be dating or be in a relationship with.
This topic came up because while I'm not attractive in the least, people often want to touch me because I'm ''teddybearish'' and open with smiles and body language. But due to my health I'm sort of made of glass, so I have to be careful with hugs and handshakes, and this sometimes comes into play in close relationships too.

My circumstances might be abit different but for me it was worth it.
For many years I was overweight. I was an overweight kid and turned into an overweight adult. I was extremely unhappy but I couldn't do anything about it. All diets and work out regiments would sooner or later fail.
Then, for my ongoing anxiety and depressive moods I started therapy and after a while I no longer identified with what I was seeing in the mirror. It got to the point where I no longer even glimpsed into into a mirror and if I accidentally saw one, I'd either close my eyes or turn around quickly. Very few pictures exist of me.
What happened next was a breakthrough in my therapy sessions and a turning point in my life. You see, while at some point in my life as a child and teenager I definitely identified with being overweight, in my mind I no longer saw myself that way. Apparently, all these years I had been using my weight to "disappear", hide and blend into the background. I was afraid of being noticed and seen and yet I yearned for some recognition.
From the point of realizing this to actually doing something about my weight more than 1 year passed. I eventually mustered up the courage to start controlling my food intake and lost almost half the weight I needed to lose within 6 months. My fear of being seen was preventing me from losing the weight.
In hindsight, it was definitely the right decision. It was very difficult to let go of the pain I experienced during my childhood and the past but I am a free person today. My weight was not only physically weighing me down but it was crushing my soul. I have no regrets.

Well, not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but here goes: back when I had an eating disorder and I thought I was attractive looking like that, I would have trouble getting up without fainting or going for walks without getting extremely tired. I didn't fear being touched because it would "ruin" my appearance, it wasn't that directly related, so to say. I feared family hugging me, because I was afraid they'd find out how sickly bony I had become, and that they'd send me to a doctor or something.

because I grew up as an extremely and painfully shy kid... I did not enjoy people touching me one bit, but that was also something I grew out of

by the time I was a teen and an older teen I got much more used to people being closer to me so I got to manage my awkwardness around those things, and since then and as an adult... I just prefer my personal space to be considered my personal space, I am not the hugger or hand shaker either but that's because of my mild germophobia... lol

but I've always worked on controlling these issues, so I am don't have any problem being close and all kinds of affectionate with all those I know and care for, and intimacy is not an issue at all for that matter

If you feel that way then don't advertise yourself, wear big baggy clothing when you go out or don't go out, but if you just want to be a trophy them may an old dude on his way out you won't get touched and he won't noticed you anyway and you might wind up rich unless you got an old dude living on social security then you can claim his and there you go income for life, what kind of life depends on how you stretch his 700 dollars a month check but you didn't get touched except in wallet

Hmmmm. I do think you are physically attractive. Beauty is subjective. Also you just seem like a really nice, genuine person. I think at this point the only person’s opinion that really matters about your appearance is your wife.

Just because someone is physically attractive doesn't technically mean they enjoy feeling touch. If you actually do feel like touching your partner but he/she isn't the type who actually want to feel touch than that when the problem of the relationship start for the both of you two.

People dont walk around touching each other without permission.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, not in the fingers of the toucher. So the preference to be touched physically is independent of beauty, I believe.

No. Not everyone is going to touch you, they can if you're overweight or whatever too. It's good to be healthy, and if that counts as some people's view of attractive, that would be their issue, not the person and their body figure.

It is comical. I used to work with this attractive lady who said she'd never have kids because of what they'd do to her body.  I didn't have the heart to tell her time was already doing it. Lol
