Is this a red flag? Man heavily confiding in me after just one date?

I went to have drinks with a guy and enjoyed the date. He immediately set up a second date and has texted me every day all day since. He also texted me that he’s been crying about his dog either being put down or having a potentially fatal surgery confiding in me. It feels a bit weird though, like very heavy for someone you barely know? Am I overthinking this? Or is it potentially a red flag?

Well. Maybe he just really likes u I don't know if him being upset about his dog dying is a red flag but it is a weird thing to talk about constantly.
I wouldn't take it as a red flag but maybe more as a weird character trait. Like it or not.

It's a red flag. He barely knows you and he's unburdening like he you are his partner. My guess is that he has no life and is desperate for company.

I wouldn't. He's already shown that he is extremely needy to the point of being inappropriate. It feels wrong to you. Pay attention to that feeling. People who don't end up in disastrous relationships. I did.

Sounds like a good guy, going through something incredibly emotional (which is probably out of the norm for him) He obviously likes you if you made him comfy enough to share. Just be nice. Emotions cloud judgement. I doubt he means to scare you.
