It is a bad thing for ANYBODY to not have a job.
He obviously doesn't take responsibility seriously, and personally I wouldn't spend the rest of my life with him. He needs to understand Marriage and Relationships involve supporting EACH OTHER, not just one. A Marital foundation based on just one providing support WILL NOT WORK. If he TRULY loves you, he will do what it takes to be responsible and show you he is serious about doing what it takes to make you happy. Because right now, either he doesn't know how his behavior is affecting you, or he does and doesn't care. If I were you, I would tell him he has three months to find a job and KEEP IT, or you are walking. If he doesn't have the responsibility to go to work everyday and bring home a paycheck every week or two, then he certainly isn't capable or putting his 50/50 into a future Marriage. He needs to GROW UP and realize EVERY job has it's "characteristics" that warrant complaints. It is a part of life and he needs to deal with it, or there is no way he is ever going to be able to make you happy.
So what is he doing in his time?

For example when I did not have a job, I would always be working in some personal project related to my profession.
