Why would a guy act serious and seem so interested in me for a date and he ends up ignoring/ghosting me?

It seemed like everything was going well we had some nice conversations prior and we were supposed to go on a date then yesterday he never texted me to hangout and opened my snap leaving me on read. What's up with dating nowdays.

I really couldn't tell you why. I have been scratching my head wondering why I have had woman do the same thing to me. 6 months after I got divorced I was approached by a female that struck up a conversation and by the end of it she asked for my number and wanted to know if I would like to go out on a date some time soon. So we did and thing we're pretty good, I thought we hit it off. We went on 5 dates and she begged me to be her date for a wedding she had to go to. I showed up at her place to pick her up and haven't seen or heard from her since the date we went on when she asked me to be her date for the wedding.

She is not the only one either

People are fickle with their attention these days, since so many things are fighting for our attention. It sounds like you met this guy on a dating app, which means anything that happens until you actually meet is very superficial and doesn't matter much. Women often do the kind of gatekeeping where they say "I only want a serious guy". So, perhaps he was just giving you what he thought you wanted (without really meaning anything by it), but got a better offer of a date at the last moment.

Or perhaps his uncle died, he had his appendix removed, or he found our that you're his far removed niece - whichever reason would make him stand you up without writing to you. Women do this as well; no reason to speculate endlessly about it. He might text you in a few days if the operation went well.

Keep in mind that to him you're just a stranger on the internet. If this guy is feeling depressed or whatever, answering you won't be his priority. Not everyone has got a big enough hearth to be mindful to everyone they meet.

Sure, if he's just playing around, dating whichever girl he likes and ignoring the rest, that's cold. I could understand you feeling disappointed. However, we all waste our time - that's the risk of doing business. At least this guy had a conversation with you and thus gave you a chance. Many guys on dating apps will experience that no one ever writes them back, and they'll waste countless hours just swiping away. Having someone reply to you is a nice thing.

Move onto the the next guy. Maybe chat less, meet earlier. Not so much build-up for disappointment; you get an instant feel for the person and a better sense of whether they care.
