What did a guy who I have an open relationship with mean when he said this?

I told a man I'm close with that I appreciate my off time: He said " save all that conversation for the men you date" I'm not that man. And was it rude? What should I have said to him?

To clarify: being close with a guy and friends with benefits is not an open relationship. An open relationship is when you are together but allowed to date other people. So for him to say “save that for the men you date”, should completely erase any confusion you have about where you guys stand and shows that he doesn’t even care to let you vent to him or share a conversation with any longevity, hence what he said. I feel like that should be unacceptable for you because you are more than just a warm cave for his eel to slither in and out of whenever he sees fit.

I agree. I may have used the wrong " wording " but, what I said so so simple. It wasn't needy, it was t anything. It was basically cruel and he doesn't deserve anything from me

I would agree but the problem was. That I was just stating a fact. And, I was just talking. I wasn't pushing myself on him, being needy , nothing. I basically said I appreciate my off time That is all I said

If you're in a friends with benefits with this guy, then he was just being honest, but it sounds like a part of him resents you for allowing it it, and maybe even a part of him self for playing a part in it. But what he said also shows resentment to the men that date too.

I'm a girl. I've kind of been in your shoes before where someone blatantly doesn't care about me. It hurts. And no one deserves that treatment. I'd get out soon than later
