It’s not just men. Looks matter and as much as people like to bring in the fairytale quotes “Looks fade” or “What if that person gets injured” is a line that’s a band-aid for those who doesn’t want to admit that looks matter. Good looks may not be the end all be all but how can you feel aroused if you’re not even physically attracted to that individual? It may come off as shallow to some but that’s human nature. Sometimes I’m not even aware how attracted or interested I am in a person until we have more conversation and I recognize the strong emotions.
No one will say “Oh wow, that personality looks good let me give him a hint to let him know I’m attracted to him.” The first thing I notice is the only information I can utilize. My eyes see an attractive guy and now I’m intrigued to find out what’s next.
Why wouldn’t men prefer looks? I have to be with a man that I’m attracted to or it’s not going to work out. Some people will accept “oh they’re so sweet” but I wasn’t attracted to this person at first glance. There are people out there who is good loooking that some may categorize as shallow who is willing to be loyal with a great personality.
Humans are attracted to the visual aspect of people. They like what they see, so they go after it. You can’t really see someone’s personality just by looking at them.
After all, most people wouldn’t bother talking to someone they didn’t find visually appealing.

99.9 percent of the guys I see on this website say they prefer personality over looks... And I don't get why... I think personality is unimportant,. since guys usually are only. motivated by sex... We usually only want a hot girl for sex so it feels better... Most guys don't care about love or having companionship, we jus want a hot piece of meat to plow our rod into... so looks should only matter not personality, that's the way guys are suppose to be... it's in our nature, we was programmed to be visual... Think of bees and flowers... Girls are the flowers jus sit there to look pretty so many bees wanna come over and pollinate the pretty looking flower.. and guys/bees are motivated to be visual and only be attracted by multiple pretty flowers / girls.. so they pollinate more, spread their seed.. and increase the human population, or flower population... So there's your answer. We was programmed that way by nature, it makes the most sense
This can be a very complicated subject and more than one person male or female has been hurt by it. I am 63 and honestly don't fool around much with children. I have gone out with 20 somethings, but am not all comfortable. I prefer 34+. I don't place all that much on looks. I sometimes spend a lot of time with a lady who was in a really bad car crash that has left her face scarred. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever known. Giving and open. The only reason she is single is her husband died in that crash many years ago. This is what I value. Be a stickler on personal hygiene. Wash your hair and wear clean clothes. Brush your teeth. Some women during "that time" of the month can lose focus on smell and I hate this. Oh, not all men are like this. In fact, I know more that just want a girl who will always keep her shoes under HIS bed!

I don't think guys prefer dating someone only for the looks -- sure, it's what makes them interested and they love to show a good looking woman off to their friends. But to take a girl seriously, she needs more than a pretty cover since relationships are not only sex.
Men need to want to stay by her side after the orgasm -- that's when we know they like someone.
Whether they openly acknowledge it... they're responding to the potential genetic advantages an attractive woman will impart to their potential offspring. '
Alluring' females have a far wider choice of Suitors than merely 'competent' & proficient women.
The cosmetics & fashion industries aren't overtly highlighting non-physical acumen!
Oddly though, the cartoon character of 'Velma Dinkley' is often more fantasy-eroticized than the character of Daphne Blake. (Check Deviantart. com) In the live action movie Daphne helped 'tart up' Velma in that red leather fitted cat suit and her hair & make-up. <3 ;)
I've dated everything from 2's to 10's. It seems to me that no matter where you are on the looks scale, there's a fairly equal possibility of your personality being garbage.
Worth noting is that those on the extremes, either really ugly or amazingly attractive, the personality is more likely to be complete shit.
All that being said, wealth seems to be the most accurate indicator of a terrible person. Those born into wealth often are spoiled and inconsiderate assholes regardless of looks.

Because every guy hopes to find a attractive women with a great personality. But its far easier at a glance to see if she's good looking, so the only way to figure out the other half of the equation is to get to know her... but if you want looks and personality it starts with the looks.
As guys get older their idea of beauty changes. Because every women ages different, so some at 20 may not look as good at 30, and some at 30 can look way better than they did at 20. Plus as guys get older they want more than just looks in a women, because by a certain age they have been burned so many times that looks stop being as important or they end up alone and lonely.
See, you wouldn’t be interested in getting to know someone unless you are into how they look. Also I believe physical attraction plays a huge role in relationships.
Most of these guys who pick a girl solely based on her looks usually aren't looking for something long-term. Chances are they're only looking for sex really, they're not giving it any real thought because they're not interested in romance or love. Most of the guys who are actually dating for keeps will choose the personality over the looks believe me.
Misguided or either they are not interested in a depth of a person as satisfaction in a relationship. It’s one or the other. I can’t personally stand being around someone for more than an hour if their personality is absurd regardless if they’re hot or not. Personality is what makes me stay interested and happy, The looks are important but it’s not what keeps me grounded to someone

Lotta men will want a woman who is a good partner to him. Has eyes only for him, genuine desire for him, cooks for him just generally takes care of him. Men love that shit because nobody gives a fuck about us, so when we get it. It's like crack.

The beautiful body of a woman implies that she cares about her health and that she has active tendencies, enjoy challenges, and operates at certain level of fitness.
If you're upset that men prefer women who are fit, well then get out of your head and start living in your body. It'll really improve your sex life as well.
Actually not a lot of guys are like that , and the ones that are, pay no attention to them because those are the guys who objectify women anyway, they watch too much porn and then lust after women who have body types and looks of those porn stars. You don’t want a guy like that anyway, they won’t stay with you for the long haul of he’s just after looks. It’s better to be alone than to be with someone who just wants you for your body.

None. It takes a balance of both you could have a good looking woman but uglier than sin on the inside, and vise versa, now one is clearly better than the other but if you can't be attracted to someone physically it just simply will not work
I think it's more of a filteration system. Animals didn't really evolve to have such broad communication abilities and deep personalities, you just required a fertile partner and a lack of severe red flags.
I think bragging rights is a crass way of putting it. Why do women want a guy that's got money, has status, has a lot of friends etc?
Because whether people will admit it we all do this. Our worth is measured not only by who we are but the company we keep. Of course a guy wants a beautiful woman. Because to accept less is to say to the world " this is what I'm worth".
They don't. Nobody does. They just don't realize it just you've seen what the other side is like compared to the latter side. Looks make u feel something right away and you act. But you have to act first to ever feel something from personality. A lot of married men out miserable. 97% of people have some personality flaw and dont even realize it. You can't buy courtesy in the real world. Although it is the cheapest trait to develop.
Not always. They’ll have to be attracted to the person, yes, but many guys have told me that they’d rather a girl who’s not necessarily a stunner but they’re attracted to and who they click with, over a drop dead gorgeous stunner who they don’t click with.

Because they are shallow but everyone is shallow when it comes to dating tbh. Women also like hot tall guys but in my experience women get judged in a harsh for prefering tall men while noone says anything when a guy preferes pretty girls in my experience. This is why women ain't honest since they are afraid of getting judged
I can't generalize of course and i mentioned many times that this my experience and so it is anecdotal.
Yes well it will be a sad wedding night when They can't consummate the marriage because he's not attracted to her. Unfortunately physical attractiveness is important to men. When it comes to sex with men it's physical first, and with women it's emotional first. A lot of people wanted to debate me about that but I'm going to stand by it.
