I don't like the idea of posting anything on social media, but the people that do tend to only post the positive stuff.

From that perspective, yes. When it is early on, there is still a high probability that it won't last and that the people involved don't know each other that well. It could end up being rather humiliating.

In a world of vanity and suspicion, the advantage would be that if the lover was seeing somebody else, it might help determine that earlier on. But if you can't trust, that's a pretty big red flag.

In general I think people should keep their personal life off of social media. So announcing that on social media is absurd and asking for issues. But if you are going to have a nasty break up please do it no social media. Because that can be super fun oy watch play out.

I mean, if it's important to you than why not? I just don't care enough. Most people stopped wishing me happy birthday on Facebook because I'm never on there (or I'm just a massive asshole) so I obviously don't get the appeal. But if it's important to you or them, then why not?
