How would you respond to someone who asks you why you’re single? “But you’re so handsome/pretty?” Why, they ask?

My go-to answer for "Why?" questions that I don't want to answer is to take a deep breath, fix the asker with an intense stare (over my glasses, if possible), and loudly declare "Because the Jellyfish wills it so!". There have never been any follow-up questions.

Will depend on my mood and the relation. Answers could be:
'Being in a relationship is not that much about looks, I guess'
'I have always been single, just my natural state.'
With a smile :D.. I find the question silly and if they are not just giving a compliment on my looks, then they have a very different view on relationships than me, and probably not something I really want to get into with them.

It depends on how much I Like the asker. If I do I'd tell the truth and say because I have been working on myself. If I didn't want anything with them I would just tell them to think about it

Considering my personality, a playful fuck off is expected. The only exception are the elderly, because I actually expect this question for them.

From my experience, they don't really understand sarcasm, so that's one reason. The other is that I know they still live in different times in their own heads.
