Like not dating within your religion complicates things (been there, done that). It won’t work! So, why do people still do it? It doesn’t makes sense! One of you would have to convert in order for it to even work…🤦🏾♀️

I think only a few of you truly understand what I am say, which is said. Everyone else is missing very important details, even those who are older than me… Well, maybe you guys will find out later in life. I don’t really feel like explaining it. 🤷🏾♀️

I’m currently dating a Muslim in Nigeria I’m Christian I really don’t care what religion you practice. In my home state in my opinion Christian’s have a big issue with Muslims and in his home state the same. In Nigeria in general there is that issue. I personally like how he makes me feel 🥰 we know long term we might not be together because we’d have to pick between our families 🥺 but so far I’m completely and utterly in love with him. He’s so cute with his words and actions shouldn’t that be what’s more important than the overemphasis in religion. We both agreed never to encourage the other person to convert and to be respectful to each other’s beliefs. We don’t have to agree on everything. For example his take on polygamy I don’t agree with it and he doesn’t agree with my take to marry a second husband if my husband is marrying a second wife 😂 we laugh about it and still I emphasize I don’t support polygamy so if he’s with me wellll he has to forget that. Which he agreed to. I’m not forced to wear what I don’t want to wear. I dress as I please what’s more important is how we make each other feel and he makes me feel 🥰🥰
I don't understand that at all either. Surely what you want from life will be much different? You should try and marry someone with similar goals and life visions to you.
As a Muslim dating someone who isn't Muslim and never imagined that I'd actually do it because I too believe that it complicates things:
Short explanation is because love just happens in the most unexpected ways sometimes.
Longer explanation is that we agreed on focusing on the present and decided that if things ever come to a point that we split up we still remain good friends. We were getting very close very fast from the first time we met so I decided to have a conversation about it, and he told me that even if it's for a part of my life he wants to be by my side and make me happy. Despite the possibility that we might split up, we also entertained the possibility that we could totally decide to marry as well so we discussed how we would like to raise our children! He personally doesn't care much about the religion of his children, and cares more that they become good people and because he's vegetarian he is certain he's raising his kids vegetarian too, which I don't mind.
Oh and aside from religion he ticks ALL boxes for me.
Why wouldn't they? Religion shouldn't be a big deal when it comes to relationships and dating. Well, unless someone is a religious fanatic.

Don't see a problem with it. I would date a non-religious person or someone of a different religion than mine (although I don't even know what I classify myself as anymore lol). It's not a big deal as long as two respect each other's views/religion and doesn't try to force them on their partner.

This is the Christian view, though even many still don't follow it and then face problems in the marriage, and it can actually bring a Christian down to the unbelieving level.

You're quoting from the Old Testament which is no longer valid under Jesus if you're truly a Christian. Of course if you want to disregard that, feel free to also engage in many other practices like incest, rape, genocide, slavery, retribution, and other fun stuff.
@bingbongbangbung Some things don't change, such as "Thou shalt not kill". You just have to be aware of the context in which it was spoken. Old Testament Law, for the most part, changed on the Day of Redemption, and we are under a new law. Just as animal sacrifices no longer is valid, so are a lot of other laws changed with the shedding of the Lamb's blood.
I think you can date someone of a similar religion, like a Protestant dating a Baptist and that should work, but if there are a lot of differences or moral differences then it won't work long term, especially if they want to have kids.
Many people date with having little in common because they are just looking for sex or for convenience to not be alone until someone else comes along. They are wasting each other's time in my opinion.
I think there's absolutely no problem in dating someone from other religion if you and your partner don't mind. And if you care about parents opinion, they don't mind. They human too and we love human not their religion or anything. So I personally don't mind. Although my parent's would disown me before letting me be with someone from other religion. There is one of my friend. I think he is my best friend, soulmate and everything but boyfriend or life partner, because of my parents obviously. But if they would have been fine with it. I would have been dating him for years now for sure. I love his family and everything but it's just not possible.
Well, for example, my mom grew up religious, going to church, etc. Nowadays she doesn't go to church, we never prayed, etc. My father is not religious at all, although he sometimes leans to some spiritual bits here and there. It all works out because it's not important enough to either of them. If my mom was a zealot who tried to get him to pray, the never would've started dating. So as a conclusion, religion can have varying levels of importance in people their lives. You can date someone and see what they are like and see whether it will be a problem.

Why not? Religion isn't always an issue. I know a few couples with differing religions. In one couple, the husband is Jewish and the wife is Catholic. In another, the husband is Baptist and the wife is Methodist. In another, the husband is Catholic and the wife is Episcopalian (Anglican).
So long as the couple agree on how to raise their children, being of different religions is not an issue. And, it's possible that, later on, one of the couple may convert to the other's faith.
As someone who is practically atheist, I just don't really see it as too much of a problem. There may be some times where particularly staunch religious people may have opinions about what sort of roleplay in the bedroom is acceptable that might conflict with my opinons, but I'd say it's generally not too big of an issue.
At least not for me. I guess the issues are entirely dependent on them.
I'm a religious (Hindu) person. But I will marry a girl from any religion if I'm in love with her. I love my religion, I love and respect all religions. I will not force her to convert. It's ok if she is not perfect. I will accept her like that.
I like to date Amish girls so I can turn them to the dark side and watch their parents shun the hell out of us. The only downside is they only have outhouses so upper deckers or reverse kangas are a no-go.

I am the product of a 51 year marriage between mixed faiths. I know several couples who are happily together after more than a decade or two who are of mixed faiths.
Well, when I did I was honestly trying my luck. I met this muslim man he seemed decent and we were attracted to each other. In the end it didn't work and I will never date outside of my religion ever again.
If I found out my partner was religious, then in order to help solidify our relationship and properly commit then I’d convert to their religion, hopefully that would bring us closer :)

Some human feelings are not related to religion for many.. like lust and an emotional connection, if you got that you might want to date and hope it conquers other differences, which it sometimes does
