Im not sure how much he likes me. We've been talking online for 4 months. The uncertainty and element of mystery is giving me anxiety. I'm not able to let go of him cause I think he's a combo of sweet and hot. But the long pauses between the communication doesn't feel good for my mental health. How do I let go? How do I end this?

Did you ever see each other? If yes, I think you should "sacrifice" yourself in that amount. All that situation is causing you to enter in that state of anxiety and overthinking. Again, if you can meet him again, you should be open about it and see what does he thinks about idea of you two together.
If you didn't see each other and this is only over phone I think you fell in love of some "love" idea that you could have with this guy. This second is a bit dangerous cuz it could lead you in depression or in some other wrong path. Put yourself in first place always, than other people.
