Should I keep any hope for a friendship being more with a guy down the line even tho he said he wasn’t looking for a relationship right now?

He’s never been in a relationship he’s 25 but we’ve been friends for 5 months since we’ve been at our job and I’m 23. I wouldn’t say i have a gigantic crush on him but I find him attractive and would be open to dating him but im not getting my hopes up highly since I can meet other guys and things can change but he’s a chill, kind, caring, reserved guy and super cute. As to why he’s never had a girlfriend? Im not sure. Maybe he wasn’t ready when he was younger.

Thanks for the added details, I'd respect what he'd have to say and maybe you yourself should see if he's happy or going somewhere decent with his life now before popping a big question like that, could be secretly gay, could be seeking something bigger than himself and his life, could be reeling from heart ache, or he just doesn't see himself dating right now
