Boyfriend forgot my birthday, is it normal?

So I’ve been dating for about 7 months with him. On his birthday a month ago right around 12 am on the dot, I texted him happy birthday. He had sent a heart with a thank you. So my birthday was a few days ago. I had just woken up and grabbed my phone. He calls a few minutes later. I answered but he didn’t say happy birthday. It was to vent what had happened to him at work last night. So he talks and talks and I’m expecting for a happy birthday. He never does so I asked him was he ever going to tell me happy birthday. The phone goes silent for about 6 seconds and then he says “oh you didn’t tell me happy birthday on mine.” I brought up the fact I did then he switches it to “that’s the reason he called.”

So, he didn’t even apologize? I would say that while it’s not normal, it’s a possibility for any guy to forget a gf’s birthday ad an honest mistake, but typically he should at least have the decency to act super apologetic and embarrassed about it. The fact that he first tried to play it off as being insignificant, and then tried to pretend it was intentional, kind of tells me you have a problem. Namely, your guy sounds immature and disingenuous. Mistakes are one thing, lying and not owning up to them is another. If having a boyfriend you could potentially marry means anything to you, then you may have a problem with this one.

I don't really celberate my birthdays but if i was in a realtionship i would take it very personal if my bday was forgotten

I mean I think it's odd for your significant other to not remember your birthday. In my opinion that's a bit disrespectful.
