Should I give a chance to a guy who hook up with other girls?

Me (16F) and my crush (17M) are classmates and most of our class (including us) has known eachother for many years which means whenever something happens everyone is aware of it and talk about it.

I liked him for the longest time and believed he liked me too. But just when I found out about it and started trying to be more flirty and forward, a rumor about a girl from the morning period who said she thought he was cute started to circulate. Soon enough he started texting her (which he never did to me) but couldn't decide what he wanted to do. After talking with our classmates and asked "do you want to hook up with her?" he answered "I don't know" but when asked "do you wnat to make out or not?" he said "well, yeah, of course, if I have the opportunity" (by the way, neither if us has had our first kiss yet).

This whole "new girl" thing made me believe he doesn't actually like me in a deeper level... For the whole time I was in love with him I never once gave another guy (or girl) any attention (and definitely not by lack of options). I'm demisexual, so I can't understand being attracted to someone you barely know; much less hooking up with them when you already like someone else.

Should I give up on him and find a guy who actually only has eyes for me? Or should I wait until this hook up thing is over to approach him again?

If he liked you on a deeper level, than he likely would have made it known. If you never hinted at wanting more than a friendship, then you need to learn from that moving forward. So yeah, give up on being more than friends for now.
