What’s the difference between setting boundaries and being too demanding while dating?

I just left the guy I was dating bc I felt he wasn’t giving me effort a relationship requires. He said I was pressuring him, but he came to me twice telling me He wants to try one with me after we last split up bc of his inconsistency. I just don’t know what to do. I want to state what I would like out of a relationship without seeming needy

Boundaries are for people to not cross you. Demanding is lording over others for selfish reasons.
