He lives halfway across the world and promised to come see me?

A few months ago I downloaded a chatting app just to have some casual and fun conversations. But joke's on me, one of the guys I hit up just hits different. We hit it off quickly and now we've been chatting for over a month, we got each other's snaps and numbers and basically talk everyday, sometimes all day. We send each other pictures of ourselves daily. He has mentioned sending me one of his hoodies and I'm in the process of sending him snacks from my country. Our conversations are fun ~wink wink~ most of the time but we also ask questions about each other. He told me that he has told a couple friends about me and has said very cute stuff to me such as "you're becoming important to me", "you're amazing" "you're so fun" etc.

Only problem is, he lives a 9 hour flight away. He has promised to come see me "soon" and that he Is working on it. Said he won't break his promise. Says he can't wait etc.

I'll be honest, I'm starting to catch feelings. He's very attractive, fun, kind, and we have quite a few shared experiences and interests though our lives are very different.

Should I believe him when he says he'll come see me, or should I accept that it's just not going to happen? If we continue down this path and I get more attached, it'll break my heart if he doesn't come. And even then, even if he came, what's the probability of us ever being more than a fling?

I've never felt with a LDR before and I just don't know what to do. Any tips would be greatly appreciated <3
