Unintentionally ignoring a guy that liked me for a long time?

Excuse my horrible English, I’m not a native speaker :,)

I am a university student & met a guy in November... We introduced ourselves in class but I didn’t really remember his name or pay attention to any of our conversations. We talked about silly stuff, like the weather or the tests we had to take. He was just another random dude I had a good, typical relationship with, you know what I mean?

The problem is, he liked me then (probably still does) and I had no idea until someone told me in April... I feel like an idiot for not paying attention to the signs he was giving me. I unintentionally ignored him and he did so many things to try and make me like him back… The moment I realized he was into me, I felt terrible. I started developing feelings too, but it was late. Summer break started and now we’re both in our hometowns.

Do you think I have hopes of dating him when we go back to uni? Do you think he hates me for not noticing him, even if I did it unintentionally?

I think if you explain the situation, with the integrity and sincerity in which it was written, to him then it will be fine. And did not realize until someone told you... And that your culture is different. It probably boils down what he finds over the summer. I assume you're beautiful ;-)
