Should I even bother dating this guy?

A guy asked me out on a date and I really like him. Thing is, I've recently realized he looks down on people, people like me. I don't have a luxurious home but it's clean. Everything I have is cheap because I can't afford more expensive items.

He talks down about people who haven't gotb beautiful homes and things. Yet, he doesn't either. So not sure why he's like that. I'm embarrassed to let him know where I live. I like him, but not the snobby side of him. Should I even bother dating him, because I'm sure he'll not want to see me again when he sees where I live 🙁

This would definitely pose a problem in the relationship. Sure, everything may seem great now, but I’m not so sure if things would be the same if he sees where you live. I like small homes, I think they are cozy and homely. Cleanliness is way more important than a large house which just feels… empty.

The fact that he looks down on people who are not very well off is a tell tale sign that he would be a terrible partner. Do you want to be with someone who would constant talk down on others? Wouldn’t that make you uncomfortable? He might talk badly about you too behind your back.

He seems extremely egotistical and shallow minded. Two of the traits I abhor in a partner. I don’t think this relationship would work long term. Please find someone else who is mature enough to realize that spending money thriftily/wisely is way smarter than splurging on lavish things for increasing one’s “social status” or whatever..

I have some very wealthy friends. I grew up in a rich area, though my family was like the regular joes that lived in the town for 3 generations. But a lot of my buddies that grew up really rich I feel are like your friend. Some of them I feel like are just trying to impress people even though it comes off as attacking… also the whole “keeping up with the Jones,” is real. Some just want you to know that they can provide, or bring something special to the table.

but that stuff drives me crazy. I wouldn’t stand for it. Money is just not impressive to me. I’d rather be with someone that I enjoy spending time with over someone that can buy me a fancy house. But that’s a tricky situation. He might calm down once he feels he’s shown you how wealthy he is. Idk….

Looking down on anyone is enough reason not to spend any time with them period. If a man treated you like a queen, but everyone else like a peasant then he's not worth being with. But the ego is what makes people miss this...
