Is it a bad idea to date this dude?

I am 18 my ex is 17. Me and him broke up like a year ago. He’s been telling me that he misses me and he wants to get back together when we are both in a good place to do so. But he got a girl pregnant awhile ago. She just gave birth today premature. I do not have beef with his baby mama I haven’t spoken to her so i don’t know how she feels about it. But I know that he told me that they are okay with each other seeing other people because they don’t want to be together. Does it seem like a bad idea to get together with him even when the time comes that we feel like we’re ready?

With a baby now, that boy's life is about to get real complicated real fast. Even if him and baby mama say they're cool with seeing other people, drama can still pop off easy since they're tied together forever now.

I know you still care about him deep down, but is all that extra baggage really what you need? At 18 years old, you should be living your best carefree life! Focus on your friends, your education/career, enjoying your freedom.

He might be missing you now, but once that baby comes he won't have time for a relationship. And what happens in a year or two when he wants to settle down for real - are you gonna be ready for that commitment too?

I say don't totally close the door, but put some distance between you for now. Let him figure out daddy duties without you in the mix feeling stressed. If way down the line when you're both more established adults you still connect, then maybe. But for now, sis, pump the brakes! You deserve a way easier love life at this age.

And they don’t want to be together. If they wanted to be together then he wouldn’t have even told me he wanted to be with me. And I know that right now it’s not a good idea to date him. But time goes on and people don’t have to stay single for the rest of their lives after having a baby. And it’s not like I have any negative things to say about his baby mama. It would definitely be a problem if me and his baby mama didn’t get along but that’s not the case. His baby mama has known he wants to get back with me since before she gave birth and I did tell him that was not alright to say to her because she was pregnant with their baby.

It doesn’t matter if they don’t want to be together. They’re bound by the fact that they have to co-parent a child. Also, he’s a total retard if he’s having accidental kids at 17. The best time to date him is literally never.
