Would it be bad idea to ask this girl out the day after she seemingly had a someone stalking her?

I was planning on asking out this friend at the end of the day but in the morning some weird guy that's not from the university was asking about her (describing her) in different classes. A friend and I got wind of it and made sure to tell her and security, of course

Never found the guy and she was creeped out but overall ok. I stuck with her most of the day to be sure. We were still laughing and hanging out as usual between classes, and she thanked me for protecting her at the end of the day

Now my plan was ruined in the weirdest possible way and life goes on, but I don't want to be insensitive either. I'm thinking if all goes well I'll just ask her out as I was planning today, and while I feel she will say yes as we've been spending a lot of time together lately I don't want her to think I'm using that situation or crossing a line when this just happened, or that I don't care
