I'd prefer a fisher myself. I wouldn't mind fresh fish, boat rides, and sailing. But I'm surprised by the results, I had thought most people would pick hunter but seems like fisher is favored (for now).

This is an interesting question. It really is. That might seem weird to say... because I do not have any opinion on this either way. But I do genuinely think this is a good question.

Here's my thinking: I am not into hunting, or fishing. Therefore, whether I dated a hunter of a fisher wouldn't make any real difference to me. I'm not coming along, either way. I do not know which smells worse, deer pee or fish guts. But either way, I would expect to never smell their hobby. Otherwise, I'll be happy to hear about how the hunting or fishing was... after she got back... and had a shower.

So really, I can't vote either way. I also don't eat fish (not for ethical reasons but because its gross).

And while I do eat meat... i just like my regular ol' pork and beef. And I have no interest in eating anything else she might have shot.

The more I think about this... the more I'm thinking... I don't think I'd be particularily thrilled to lear that the girl I like was super into hunting or fishing. Not that it would be a deal-breaker. It's just a pair of hobbies with entirely more guts and end-trails than I need in my life. But that's just me. I'm a city-boy. Fishing was fun... when I was a kid with my dad... but not like serious fishing. And I don't have any moral objection to hunting. Especially for people who aren't living in the city. But I've got no desire to personally kill some animal. I understand that the steak I buy at the store is just as dead, and was killed in a way worse way. But... still, I have no desire to take the life of an animal personally. I wouldn't enjoy that. It's just not for me. But to each their own.

By the way. I think you might have my very favorite gag-username of all time. I did not decide this just now, on the spur of the moment. I have seen you around... and your name makes me smile every time. I really hope, that in your real life, your friends and family would be totally unphased by your awesome nickname... because they KNOW you're a PBandJ_Nerd... and have already heard all about your oddly-intense feelings about PB and J. I imagine them rolling their eyes, and sighing with exasperation; before saying "ugh... again with the PB and J..."

So you... are a character in a mini drama that plays out in my head when I happen upon your username. I hope you're ok with that. 🙂

Yeah, I'm ok with it. I had pb, banana, and honey sandwich today. I had leftover banana in the fridge so it was nice and cold. But as for me personally regarding this question, I'd rather date a fisher. I don't care for hunters myself. And I'm glad my nickname makes you smile.

I use to hunt but got out of it, too many drunk idiots in the bush with guns. I still love to fish though and find it very relaxing.

So I would prefer a fisher. Even if she just liked heading out in the boat I would be fine with that. I could fish and she could curl up in the bow and have a snooze. LOL

It's kind of a toss up, but I went with hunter. My thoughts:

Hunter:

1. More rare and exotic.

2. I would like to have some venison, antelope, or wild boar in the freezer. Yum.

3. She would probably be gone on hunting trips longer than fishing trips. More time for me to make my own solo vacations.

4. More survival skills and tougher in terms of physical fitness. Sexy.

5. Will be versed in either bow, gun or other long-range weapon (s). Also sexy. And handy for zombie apocalypse.

Fisher:

1. Chill, quiet, solo time.

2. I also like to eat fish. (but this is also easy to buy, more so than venison)

3. I am a fan of water, boats, rivers, etc. Fringe benefits. And deep sea fishing.

4. Probably a better fit for me as a sailor who lives on my yacht.

Ultimately, it's not really a deal breaker either way. I also didn't get into politics because there's nothing that says politics have to go hand in hand with certain interests. Just evaluating hunting vs. fishing. But I am open to women who have a wide variety of interests, so I kind of don't have a huge preference.

Hunter: Fishing is crazy expensive. If you are into it. Both can be. If you go nuts. But for a generally good enthusiast setup of each. A fisher needs a lot more gear, replacements of worn gear and boats.

Had a roommate who was an avid hunter and fisher. They probably went to one or another 100+ days a year. I mean really into it. They followed stuff like topographical maps of lakes, rivers, bays, &c. Looked at water temperature data and current data.

Anyways, just in gear. They had over 10K in rods, reels and tackle. Spending a few thousand a year in upkeep. For hunting, they had maybe 5K in gear (gun, bow, ammo, camo, blinds, decoys, &c). But probably spent less than 500 a year in upkeep. This was 15-20 years ago. So, costs would be higher now.

Then there are costs of going. Hunting had the cost of driving a motor home or truck to the location. Fishing had that plus the cost of towing and operating a boat.

More is spent on hunting licenses. Camping costs are about the same.

There's also availability. Unless the hunter is obsessed enough to fly all over the world to hunt anything that moves. They generally won't spend as much time hunting as fisher does fishing. There simply aren't as many local days open to hunting. Plus you have to win lotteries for the open hunting slots. While fishing, you can pretty much find a local area to go whenever you feel like it. By local I mean within a three hour drive.

Does the hunter one go for wild animals? Aka animals who eat other innocent animals? lol... If so then I'd go with the hunter... If not I think I'd go with the fisher one...

Fisher because I could join him/her/them on the trip every once in a while and we would be able to talk or even cuddle up on the boat or shore. Hunters have to be very quiet and cover themselves in deer piss. That’s gonna be a no from me 😂😂
