Do photographers date models they work with?

Why or why not? Is it normal for that to happen?

Once upon a time, being a photographer usually meant you had connections with people "in the industry"

Since there was no social media or ability to call someone out, there were a lot of these artsy types who would find, young attractive woman, get them to photograph naked (usually) which made it very easy to use sex to gatekeep the industry from models.

Now as horrible as this is, it should also be mentioned that most of these guys were people who were probably gonna get laid a lot without a camera anyway, this just made it easier for them to pick who they wanted to have sex with and also put a lot of women in an incredibly terrible situation if they didn't want to have sex with them or if they didn't even realize what was going on.

So I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with it by itself, but most people getting into modeling kind of understand this history a bit, it doesn't normally look good on the photographer as a professional if he's always dating models.

Is it normal? A little, not in the way it used to be. But it's not like you're going to get blacklisted because you like to date models. You just better understand that one wrong move and your career could be over.

I wonder if there's an ethical boundary there because there's a trust required of the model to pose for the photographer. It seems somewhat unethical to me for the photographer to impede on that trust.

That said, I don't know how common or rare it is. I just think it's wrong in most cases for photographer to take advantage of the model's trust.

Like student/teacher relationships, even when both are of age (ex: professor and uni student). I don't exactly look so well to most professors who exploit this situation.

I've known some who dated their muse. Yes, it's normal if there's no professional contract and both parties allow it.

Probably the ones like Harvey weinstein.. But not good ones. Gotta keep it professional.
