I know a guy who smokes and has sugar all the time but still really takes care of his teeth, and I think that's quite endearing. So anything that shows you care about yourself enough to keep clean makes for a good impression.
When someone has imperfections, if they're willing to take care of themselves despite them, then small details like that won't matter as much to me and I will still respect them.

I think cologne is a bit of a tryhard move tho, I'd rather someone use fabric softener

i imagine if I said I go to the gym, you would say something like I don't like guys who workout, I use fabric softener as well but nobody compliments fabric softener that cost $5

i like guys who work out, going to the gym is very good. i don't like guys who wear cologne because most guys i know are broke young students and it shows where their priorities are. maybe girls your age like it more.
