Guys, Any tips for dating a man at there 40's?

I'm really into a man who is older than me and I'm 27 years old and he is at his 40's now.

1 No games. We don't have the patience for that and the successful ones don't have time for it either. If there's a problem, bring it up maturely and the two of you work it out. If somethings wrong and you're not telling me why you're mad at me, I'm asking once. If you say nothing I'll act as if that's true. I may know it's not, but if you don't care enough to tell me I don't care enough to devote the mental energy to it.

2 Respect his time. If you say you're going to meet him at 7pm, be there early or call and say why you can't (broken down car or whatnot). He's busy, and he made it where he is by using his time wisely. It's an investment the same way money is.

3 Ask before putting anything personal of the two of you on social media. His expectations of privacy and yours may not align. Find the middle ground you can both agree to.

4. Don't be argumentative just to be argumentative. If it's a distinction without a difference, as the saying goes, it's not going to play out well.

Now all that to say, he should be doing all of these to you as well. It isn't a one-sided thing, but presumably as an older man he should have already learned these things along the way.

At a minimum, be sure to communicate well.

Learn his likes and dislikes -- the older we get, we often get more set in our ways.

Understand that his body is changing. He's not going to be the young buck who is 25. Physically or sexually in most cases (there are exceptions).

Just as he needs to learn about your generation, learn about his. When he grew up and was a teenager and a 20-something was very different than what you experienced. Learn about his and teach him about yours from your perspective.

He has life experience that you don't. Listen to it. Not because he's a man or any bs like that or because he knows better or mansplaining or gaslighting but because he's loved longer. There's experiences there that can save you trouble and heartache over time. And, one other important piece to that: people want to be valued and at least listened to -- the older we get, we need that.
