I honestly cannot trust someone who doesn't love Harry Potter. It's not just because I love the books.
I feel like it says a lot about that person. Some people will reject HP because it's too popular for example. Well, I don't want to date a judgmental person who thinks of things ither people enjoy as bad simply because they enjoy them!
If she hasn't read the books it tells me she is not a reader and I think in general I can't be with someone who has a distaste for reading. It indicates they are narrow minded and maybe they don't have too much going on upstairs

This to me is a little nonsensical, because what on earth says that if she doesn’t read Harry freakin potter she’s an idiot? You realize this is a children’s series, right? Surely you’d expect her to have broadened her horizons since childhood and read books that are far more intellectual, instead you treat it like she’s never lifted a book in her life.
I would actually feel like you aren’t that knowledgeable if your mental capacity is that of a child’s and HP is the standard. I also think it is weird for that to be the dealbreaker, because what if she just isn’t interested in fantasy and prefers historical pieces? Autobiographies? Poetry? Memoirs? Doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy Harry Potter if she doesn’t already. Even if she’s never read the books that could be an opportunity to for you to share that with her and be apart of her journey experiencing that world for the first time.
She has to have read them AND love Harry Potter.
I'm not going to wait for her to read it to find out she doesn't like it.
And that is a deal breaker for me.
It's rare that I meet people who say they don't like Harry Potter that I get along with.
It's not about Harry Potter itself. It's about something bigger. It's an energy or a way of being.
And honestly I don't trust any person who does not love Harry Potter.
And when someone notable, whether for intellect or fame or other reveals their love for Harry Potter I instantly like that person and know they are a good person.
Might not be 100% but it's the best metric in my mind.
Harry Potter is special. And if you dont like it something is wrong with you.
I'm sure some girl I might love has not yet read Harry Potter. But I'm not going to demand she read it and love it or else I will break up with her.
I'd rather avoid her all together than to wait and find out later that she doesn't love HP too.
Yeaaah… I would find this expectation strange for men over 18 in general, but for it to be a deal breaker in your age range, it just comes off as childish and would put me off. For the most part because HP is a children’s fantasy tale but I wouldn’t see you as man. Of course this is just my opinion, it is not universal and I’m sure there’s a woman out there who shares your sentiments. She won’t be easy to find but hopefully she is worth the wait.
