People tell me I'm hot but guys don't message me on dating sites?

I hate my looks so this isn't one of *those* posts, I'm looking for genuine advice lol

People irl, both men and women always act like I'm some out of this world goddess I swear. I genuinely don't see it but well. I'm in a specific subculture and everyone always tells me how shy the guys there are and they really are but so am I. Several people have told me I should sign up on dating sites because guys will "flood" my dms if they see my pics lmao.

So I got over myself and created a profile. I put a picture of me smiling at a concert and just another random picture that I found looks good, in my bio I put my hobbies and interests especially music, some negatives about me like that I'm shy and reserved. The site is really small because it's only for this specific type of people music wise. That was last night and I have like 60 profile views and two messages. In comparison I made a throwaway profile on that site without a bio and profile pic, so a blank profile and on there I have about 20 views and 6 messages.

What's the reason. Are people just lying to me irl. LOL

Dating sites are some of the WORST places to go

Predominantly the people are only after cheap easy sex and so no different than going to a bar or club. If you want that good for you, if not you'll be sorely disappointed.

Predominantly the people on these sites have issues. I tried online dating years ago, because living in a small town with high welfare / addiction & not appealing, and almost all of the guys I screened through texting & then decided to simply go get coffee with had some issue or another. I'm talking psychology issues.
