She told me she could sing and started singing a song for me, her singing voice was grating on me.
Record her. After a few days, play it back to her without her knowing it's her.
My dad, aunt and one of dad's cousins were at the house one night and, as usual, once they got plastered, they'd sit and sing old barbershop style songs and sounded horrible. Any time we told them that, they couldn't believe us! So, one night, I hid under the dining room table, where they were singing, and recorded them for a good while. A day or so later, when they were sober and I played it back for them, they wondered who could sing that badly! Then, I told them it was THEM! They still couldn't believe me!

No. If she’s auditioning for a show, she’ll know (she probably already does, at least that there are others better), but otherwise, let her have her fun. I mean, does she constantly serenade you or something?

Well... she sang.
So that wasn't a lie :D
How to tell her about quality? 🤔
well again... you could suggest that she'd be better in a different music genre.
Let's say... death metal, or HipRap, or Punk Rock?
in a loving way. your job is to love her. it is loving to correct someone, but it can hurt too.
"Bridle the tongue"...
No, you shouldn't. You should encourage her to take voice lessons.
Definitely tell her, but try to say it the best way possible.
Sing with her to give her more confidence lol
