Should I tell my girlfriend she can't sing, even though she thinks she can?

She's a wannabe singer who thinks she can sing, but is very much off key, she doesn't seem to notice and think she sounds great. She'll sometimes annoy people by singing any chance she gets.

I think the best way to handle it is to not say anything to her as some people (girls more so) can be particularly sensitive. My suggestion is to get her to record herself, have her listen to herself, and ask her what she thinks of it and if she would listen to it on the radio. Just don't say good things if you have nothing good to say.

She'll always blame you for being negative and preventing her from chasing her dreams if you do tell her what you honestly think in this scenario. Again... it's not about being dishonest here. It's simply not saying anything when you have nothing good to say. As much as honesty is key in a relationship, you also need to be tactful in situations like this.

Honestly though, if you've assessed that she's a mature girl and can handle the truth, then tell her. Because if she's mature, she might also blame you for not telling the truth. However, while talent plays a significant role in your ability to find the right pitch, technically anyone can actually learn to sing well, so she's never a lost cause. There's no black and white in scenarios like this.

Have her go on a singing reality show such as American Idol or The Voice or America's Got Talent or Britain's Got Talent or The X Factor.

Even if the judges get it wrong (they are literally all morons now, even Simon), there are tons of record companies and producers who follow those shows and grab anyone who has any legit potential. If no one does, she hasn't got it.

How often does she bother people with her singing? If it’s very often I think you should tell her nicely that she needs to practice a little bit more and that it kinda bothers you.. If it isn’t often just let it be lol.

Most people where we live have heard her sing and don't ask her to, so I don't have think it happens as often as it used to, she'll find someone every now and then who hasn't heard her yet. Lol
