My experience is that it doesn't work if either or both take their religions seriously.

The occasional exception is if for example two different denominations of Christianity are what you're talking about, in which case one converting to the other is usually not a significant leap.

I met a girl in my 20s who didn't share my Faith (Christianity). I fell for her in a big way but I never asked her out because my Faith is central to who I am.

It's not always about bigotry. A committed Christian and a devout Muslim can be great friends, but raising a family in a situation where the parents have such wildly different beliefs is almost impossible.

Atheism is as complicated in a relationship with someone who is fully committed to their Faith. Great friends but nothing beyond that.

And someone genuinely committed to their Faith wouldn't want the other person to nominally change to their beliefs just to get together.

A few years ago a girl asked me if she converted would I get together with her. I said no because I don't want someone to believe in me that way. That's not a foundation for a Faith or a family.

Rape is condemned in every religion that I know of except for in Islam. In Islam, there's no such thing as rape especially after marriage. After marriage, a woman is the property of the husband and he can fuck her whenever and wherever he wants (Quran 2:223).
